KCU DIRECTOR CANDIDATES

The Call for Nominations outlined the experience, expertise, and qualifications expected of candidates seeking election to the Board of Directors of Khalsa Credit Union. The Nomination & Member Relations Committee carefully reviewed all nominations to assess which candidates best demonstrate the competencies required of directors and those expected by our regulator, the BC Financial Services Authority.

Candidates were also evaluated based on their alignment with the Credit Union’s values, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to a collaborative, team-based approach. Particular consideration was given to strengthening Board governance practices and addressing skills and experience needs on the Board.

Following this assessment, the Nominating Committee recommends Japnaam Singh Malik, Arshdeep Singh and Jaspinder Singh Malhi as the candidates who best meet these criteria.

Harpreet Singh Minhas

Japnaam Singh Malik (Recommended by the Nominating Committee)

I bring a strong combination of academic training, professional experience, and community leadership to the role of Director of Khalsa Credit Union. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria, and have completed the Professional Development Program (PDP) at Simon Fraser University. My early career as a practicing lawyer provided me with a solid foundation in governance, risk awareness, compliance, and ethical decision-making. I have since held senior leadership roles within the education sector, including Construction Manager and, currently, Principal of Khalsa School of the Fraser Valley. In these roles, I have overseen complex budgets, managed multidisciplinary teams, led long-term strategic planning, and worked closely with boards, regulators, and community stakeholders. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of fiduciary responsibility, organizational oversight, and community-focused governance. I am seeking the position of Director at Khalsa Credit Union to contribute my skills in leadership, governance, and strategic thinking to an institution that aligns closely with my values of service, integrity, and community empowerment. I am committed to supporting the Credit Union’s long-term sustainability while serving the financial well-being of its members.

Arshdeep Singh (Recommended by the Nominating Committee)

I hold a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. For the past 13 years, I have worked with BC Hydro in Distribution Design and Transmission Engineering, contributing to multi-million-dollar projects. Through this experience, I have developed strong technical, project management, customer service, and problem-solving skills. I take a methodical approach to analyzing challenges, prioritizing projects, and managing schedules to meet stakeholder expectations in demanding environments. Beyond my professional career, I am deeply committed to community service and have been involved in many community and panthak initiatives. I previously served as a Board Director at SAF International and have been a volunteer coordinator running Punjabi classes at Gurdwara Sahib for over 15 years. As a Board Director at Khalsa Credit Union, I aim to help the organization embrace technological innovation, address emerging financial industry challenges, and expand its community reach—while remaining firmly grounded in the principles and values of Sikhi.

Jaspinder Singh Malhi (Recommended by the Nominating Committee)

I hold a Master’s degree in History from Punjab University and bring over 12 years of leadership experience in construction, hospitality, and community service. During my university years, I served as Vice President of the All India Sikh Students Federation (Punjab), advocating for justice regarding the 1984 Sikh Genocide. We presented evidence and witnesses to raise awareness and, following the guidance of Akal Takht Sahib, appealed to the Sikh community to recognize the events of 1984 as the 1984 Sikh Genocide rather than referring to them as riots. I am also a founding member of the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Sabha, an organization dedicated to upholding the respect and dignity of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Professionally, I serve as Director of Royal Craft Homes and operate two Royal Inn Motel locations, managing operations, teams, and finances. I previously served as Recording Secretary at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara (Surrey–Delta). I am committed to strengthening Khalsa Credit Union through responsible governance, financial transparency, and member-focused decision-making while supporting growth, stability, and better services for all members.

Harpreet Singh Minhas

I have 21 years of progressive experience in the fields of Business Development, HR, General Administration, Property Administration, Customer Care and Transportation. As a Director on the Board of Mid Island Co-op which has got almost 80,000 members and Nanaimo Airport Commission, I have gained an invaluable experience in governance, strategy creation, business expansion and community engagement. I own several businesses too. I am a master in business administration with major in HR and minor in IT. I have a vision where I want to see the people of my community to be exceptionally strong in the fields of finance, academics, politics and stronger physically and mentally. By joining the KCU board, I firmly believe, it is achievable in the fields of finance and education, and to great extent in other fields too. I am associated with KCU for last 7 years, and Sikhi Awareness Foundation as a platform to give back to my community. I believe that my vision in tandem with my education and experience on various boards, and my strong zeal to give back to the community will certainly be a boon to the members, and community at large, and request for your support.

ਅਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ (Recommended by the Nominating Committee)

ਮੈਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਕੋਲੰਬੀਆ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਟ ਆਫ ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ (BCIT) ਤੋਂ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕਲ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਚਲਰ ਆਫ ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ 13 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਬੀ. ਸੀ. ਹਾਈਡਰੋ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇ ਦੋਰਾਨ ਮੈਂ ਕਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਕਾਬਲੀਅਤ, ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ, ਅਤੇ ਡੂਗੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਜੀਹ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਭਰੇ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਮੈਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਥਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਕੁੱਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੈਫ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਰਡ ਆਫ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਪਿਛਲੇ 15 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਲਾਸਾਂ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਸਮੇ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪੰਥਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਰੈਡਿਟ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਰਡ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੀਂ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਭਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਕ੍ਰੈਡਿਟ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹੇ।

ਜਸਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੱਲ੍ਹੀ (Recommended by the Nominating Committee)

ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਸਟਰ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ 12 ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਦਾ ਪੇਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ, ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਟਲ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੈਂ ਆਲ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟਸ ਫੈਡਰੇਸ਼ਨ (ਪੰਜਾਬ) ਦਾ ਮੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਰਹਿਆ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਸੀਂ 1984 ਸਿੱਖ ਜਨਹੱਤਿਆ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਲਈ ਸਬੂਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਵਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਸੀਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ 1984 ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਗੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ 1984 ਸਿੱਖ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਸਭਾ ਦਾ ਫਾਊਂਡਰ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਵੀ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਆਦਾ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰੌਇਲ ਕ੍ਰਾਫਟ ਹੋਮਜ਼ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਜਟ, ਠੇਕੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਮਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਦੋ ਰੌਇਲ ਇਨ ਮੋਟਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ, ਬਜਟਿੰਗ, ਟੀਮ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ (ਸਰੀ–ਡੈਲਟਾ) ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਸੰਭਾਲੇ, ਗਵਰਨੈਂਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਰੈਡਿਟ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਬੋਰਡ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ, ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਲਿਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ, ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਥਿਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ-ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਫੈਸਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।

Board Chair

Mr. Sandhu was elected to the Board of Directors in 2016. He completed his BBA (Honours) with a double major in Accounting and Human Resource Management from Simon Fraser University. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) and is proud to bring his skills to the position of Director. He has been a member of Khalsa Credit Union for several years and has worked as an Accountant in public practice for over half a decade. He is currently a Senior Manager at a local accounting firm with clients in a variety of industries.
